A-Level Maths Resources for Teachers and Students

September 2013

Welcome to the March 2013 newsletter from MathsBank.

Hope all is going well for you at the start of the new school year. Things are already changing in the world of A-Level maths, with no more January exams offered by the main exam boards. The big changes will begin in two years' time.

KS2 Practice Papers

A quick reminder about the practice papers being developed at our sister website at Orchard Education Solutions . There is a collection of Key Stage 2 worksheets on a wide range of topics. There are also practice papers for the Northern Ireland Transfer Test, and these should be useful for anybody requiring extra KS2 test materials. There are also now some A-Level practice papers here for the C1 and C2 modules, Edexcel and CCEA specifications.

Update on the Book Reviews

The date for publication of the AS book has been put back to October this year. See the publisher's website for more details.

The new stories since we last wrote to you:

Back in March, we joined in the fun during Pi Day Live.

We celebrated the lives of two great twentieth century mathematicians:
  the prodigious Paul Erdös

and Andrew Wiles, who is most famous for having finally proved the elusive Fermat's Last Theorem.

In August we got the A-Level results , with grades falling slightly again this year,

and the GCSE results. which told a similar story, with top grades in particular suffering a slight decline.

Finally, we noted the changes in post-16 education that came in on 1st September.
